Abstract | The Oil Sands Region (OSR) of Alberta consists of three provincially recognized oil sands administrative units called oil sands areas—the Athabasca, Peace River, and Cold Lake Oil Sands Areas. In this busy landscape where agriculture, forestry, along with energy extraction, are important land-use activities, managing the cumulative effects of these activities is challenge. In this report we describe the status of species, habitat, and human footprint in the OSR, circa 2014. |
