Abstract | The intent of this paper is to present data from fur trade records documenting the depletion of the northern Alberta wood bison, or buffalo, as perceived by fur traders prior to 1840 and to consider the implications of these data for temporary game management strategies, especially involving Aboriginal harvesters. |
