Abstract | The purpose of this report is to forward the "application for approval of the South Tailings Pond and serves to meet requirements under the Alberta Oil Sands Conservation Act, Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act and the Water Act." A traditional land use study was conducted for the Suncor STP Project through completion of consultation and interviews with holders of Registered Fur Management Areas that would be directly affected by the project. The interviews involved use of a standardized set of questions. These questions were designed to elicit information on plant harvesting, fishing, hunting and trapping, cabins, trails and access routes, and issues and concerns related to the development. The study concludes that "The total effect of regional development on traditional land users would be rated as of moderate consequence based on the current and planned level of activity." |
