Abstract | This promotional booklet contains information adapted from the report Fort McKay-Albian Sands Energy Inc. TEK Project: Integration of Traditional Environmental Knowledge in Land Reclamation. The purpose of the booklet was "to provide an overview of the TEK Project and highlight community knowledge shared during the work particularly as it relat[ed] to reclamation." The booklet hopes to demonstrate the value of incorporating traditional environmental knowledge into, and allowing Aboriginal community participation in, land reclamation. The booklet is nicely designed, with numerous full-colour photographs and quotes from Fort McKay community members. At only 28, 6x6 pages, it provides a very brief overview of the larger traditional environmental knowledge Project, including a community description, the project purpose and methodology, a definition of traditional environmental knowledge, one-page each discussions of four keystone species, a discussion of traditional environmental knowledge and reclamation, the project outcome, and a three-page analysis of linking traditional environmental knowledge and reclamation |
