Abstract

The article reports on the findings of a study conducted by the Mikisew Cree Nation and the Chipewyan First Nation which revealed higher than average rates of cancer occurrence on the two First Nations living downstream on the Athabasca River in Alberta. Topics discussed include the determination of mitigating factors and the chemical tests conducted on wildlife. Also mentioned is the discrimination felt by the First Nation people when seeking health services.
