Abstract

Examines how the building of the WAC Bennett hydro-electric dam in 1967 has altered water flows enough to begin to dry out the Peace-Athabasca River Delta wetland with its affects on wildlife and vegetation. Demonstrates the concept of the ecological footprint by showing that the lifestyle decisions that are made in urban areas can affect not only local, but distant ecosystems as well.
