Abstract | Four summers of archaeological survey and excavation in the subarctic region of central District of MacKenzie, N. W. T., has produced significant new data to augment and redefine R. S. MacNeish's pioneering work of 1949. Three new traditions and nineteen archaeological complexes are recognized in a chronological-cultural succession for this vast and hitherto poorly known region. It is now apparent that the central taiga-tundra zone of northern Canada has been occupied since at least 5000 B. C. |
