Abstract | This paper review the extent to which Aboriginal forest-based ecological knowledge is being used to influence current forest management practices presenting several case studies. These include the Cree, Dene and Metis of northeastern Alberta. All of these case studies illustrate processes for implementing TEK. Significant issues that need to be addresses include the potential impact of trade agreements, loss of TEK, traditional lands, language, and jurisdiction issues. |
