This is done under the Air Quality Management Framework for Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) and Sulphur Dioxide (SO2) and the Lower Athbasca Region Surface Water Quality Management Framework for the Lower Athabasca River and fulfills a commitment made in the Lower Athabasca Regional Plan to initiate a management response when annual assessments indicate that triggers or limits have been exceeded.
