Although the western Canadian Arctic cannot be separated from adjacent regions when constructing cultural histories, prehistoric occupations of that area often show significant differences when compared to their neighbours to the east and the west. Viewed on a regional basis, the archaeological record provides a glimpse into the complexity of cultural development in the Arctic.
